One of the things I love about Portland is how biker-friendly they are. I read somewhere that even though they have so many bikes on the road, they actually have one of the least bike-related accident rates. I think it’s because drivers expect there to be bikes and therefore drive a lot more carefully.
I think one of the solutions is to get more people on bikes. I became a much more cautious driver around cyclists–and I’d never been reckless–after I started riding.
