Halloween Costume, 2013: A Brief Pictorial Recap

After last year’s Halloween costume experience, we tried to keep it simple, with a costume idea that was as clothing-like as possible.

You really can’t get more clothing-like than Mommy’s actual clothing.

I think we may not buy a Halloween costume next year. We may just amass some items, let Baguette pick, and then decide what she’s dressed as.

Happy Halloween!

  1. It reminds me of that line in Dharma & Greg where Greg’s (uptight socialite) mum asks Dharma’s (hippie) mum to borrow some of her clothes for a party, then worries she’s offended her. D’s mum is all ‘no why would I be offended you want to wear my everyday clothes to a Halloween party?’ Think of it rather Baguette is dressing up as her favourite super hero 🙂
    Happy belated Halloween!

    1. That’s exactly how I took it–last year we had a much more emotional meltdown that resulted in an Elmo-based outfit. I think she picks costumes that make her feel safe and strong, and I can’t take issue with that.

    1. That was her costume from the parade at her school; her class was stoplights, with “street sign” hats bearing their names. The teachers come up with and create the costumes, and they’re always very creative. So we can only take credit for thinking to bring it home with us after the parade–and when I say “we,” I mean “Mr. Sandwich.”

I also think you’ll appreciate that when we started talking about Star Trek costumes, Mr Sandwich announced, “There’s no way I’m letting my daughter be a Red Shirt. That is not safe when we’re on an away team.”
