True Lies

This week’s Monday Listicles is 9 Made-Up Facts and 1 True Fact. So let’s give it a shot.

    1) I have three sisters, none of whom live in the same state.

    2) I love to see the sunrise.

    3) I have traveled to every state except Maine.

    4) When I was in the third grade, I wanted to be a trapeze artist.

    5) I have never attended the Olympics.

    6) I transferred to another high school after vandalizing the football clubhouse.

    7) I took guitar lessons for six years.

    8) I sang second tenor in two church choirs.

    9) I have never been to a professional baseball game.

    10) In seventh grade, I beat the world’s record for solving a Rubik’s Cube.

So, which one is true? The first person to guess correctly gets to be smug all day long!

I am a lazy triathlete living in Los Angeles.

    1. Nope! Although several of these are wrong in the details. In this case, I have been to every state except Alaska.

    1. Nope! I have been to Dodger Stadium and Yankee Stadium, as well as a few minor-league games!

    1. I’ve been to the Montreal Olympics and the L.A. Olympics (the ones in 1984; much too young for the earlier L.A. Olympics!).

    1. Definitely not #2. I deeply resent the sun getting to sleep in later than I do, which it does most days.

Yes, I know how sunlight works.

    1. No, although when we had to decorate it for game day, I did create a poster so violent that even the football team thought it was a little much.

    1. I’ve been to 49 states, but one of those is in fact Maine. I still need to get to Alaska.

      1. Sorry, I meant #4! (Trying to respond while in the car with a toddler is not easy. Good thing I wasn’t driving!)

        1. No, yes, and yes! Which is to say, I wanted to be a bricklayer, not a trapeze artist, and yes, I know what you mean, and yes, it was!

    1. I don’t think anyone else picked #7, but it’s not correct. I took guitar lessons, but only for about six weeks.

    1. And yet I am totally a second tenor. Apparently I have the vocal cords of a much taller man.

    1. You’re right on both counts–Alaska is the state I haven’t been to, and I’m a second tenor!
