But help me out here–what else would you get rid of? Does anyone use the “Hot Topics” section, for example? Or is there a better way to share that information?

Hmm… if I had to get rid of anything on your side bar, I would start off with the admin section. Then again it might be that I just don’t know what that is haha. Everything else looks good! Are you just worried about the length? I think there’s a feature to make the archives into a pull-down menu too. And that’s amazing you’ve been blogging for a while! I think I started around the same time over at blogger but for my personal, pre-kid life 🙂
Oh, I’ve only been blogging about Baguette for part of that time, and only in a regular way since July or so. Before that it was random restaurant reviews, travelogues, and off-the-cuff comments. Oh, and polls. There are polls in there somewhere.
The admin section is more about WordPress than about the blog, but it is an easy login point. I’ve pushed it further down the sidebar since I’ve added an RSS link at the top. I’ll have to look for an Archive alternative, though!
